Children raising Children

This is a common scene. A child carrying a child. Children raising children. Whether their own or their siblings. Children should be allowed a childhood, yet many are spending their childhood providing a childhood for another. This is why we do what we do.

Welcome to the Family

This guy is part of our family now! (I promise I'm not talking about the wedding again!) He is a hard worker who serves others so well. He keeps us laughing most of the time. He is a joy to be around. And, like his wife, he is a great host and loves to have visitors. We are excited to spend more time with him and his beautiful wife in their new home.

Wedding Time!

We skipped a whole month! It was because we were exploring our favorite country. Please forgive us. Our highlight of this trip was, of course, the wedding of our dear friend. I've included a picture of the western wedding and the Indian reception. :) She is wearing a traditional outfit from her state for the reception. It was BEAUTIFUL. It is also apparently traditional that the family hands the girl to the boy and he has to hold her for a certain amount of time to make the marriage official. So we all enjoyed that moment. Wow. What a delight it was to celebrate this sweet girl and her new husband!

Chai Time

Every time is chai time in India. We love chai. In India you have chai morning noon and night. And mid morning and mid afternoon. And all the other hours of the day. If you like chai, India is the place for you. Chai is a way of saying hello. It's a way of being hospitable. It's a way of developing friendships. It is a blessing to have such a sweet way to greet people or be greeted by people. I wish we had such a simple and expected welcome here in America. We must always remember that we have much to learn from other cultures.
